Sotheby’s have teamed up with the prolific Steinmetz Diamond Group to produce their own line of diamond jewelry.
Sotheby’s Diamonds will be a culmination of Steinmetz’s skill and reputation, and Sotheby’s international prestige. The
first collection will debut in Hong Kong and New York in December.
They don’t make them like this in the U.S. These crazy and beautiful phones are the Vertu phones created by Boucheron are going on sale in India. The phones feature ornate jeweled snakes, your choice of either a diamond-studded cobra or a python. Other phones in the Vertu Signature Diamond Collection come in gold and diamonds but only the Boucheron phones feature the snakes. The phone on the left is the limited edition Signature Cobra which sells for $350,000 and will only be cast in 8 pieces. I know, I know, it’s wasteful, but wouldn’t this be the ultimate phone to be carried by an villainess in a superhero movie?
This year you can give your mother the same gift that a celebrity is giving theirs. Fortunoff has launched Charms for Charity with celebrities such as Brooke Shields, Eva Longoria, Denise Richards, Hayden Panettiere, Keri Russell, Molly Sims and Petra Nemcova. Each selected their favorite gold charms from Fortunoff’charm collection. The bracelets will serve personalized gifts and Fortunoff will create replicas of each of the celebrity designed bracelets to be auctioned off on Portero.com from May 8th through May 17th. One hundred percent of funds raised will benefit the charity of the celebrity’s choice. The choice of charms are interesting, for example, Eva Longoria’s bracelet, which benefits her charity Eva’s Heroes has an Eiffel Tower, a basketball, an umbrella cocktail, drama masks and a heart and cross combination, things which seem to be more about Eva and her upcoming wedding than her mom. Keri Russell’s includes three seashells and gardening tools and Brooke Shields’s is the blandest of the ones I have seen with a pair of baby shoes, a baby carriage, Empire state building and a present box. The jewelry designs from Keren Peled get their kick from the use of macrame and crochet knotting. Peled uses gold and silver wire intricately knotted and mixed with handfuls of semiprecious stones such like amber and garnet. The overall effect is a charming mix of hippie and luxe. Peled designs earrings, bracelets and necklaces as well as a bridal line that includes romantic woven tiaras strung with pearls. The piece shown here is called Kamala and is made of 14K gold-filled hand-crocheted wire with Onyx. It sells for $775.
The huge diamond shown here is the Tiffany Diamond, the largest diamond currently on display in the U.S. It recently made its debut at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History in Washington. The 128.54 carat cushion-cut stone is on loan from Tiffany & Co. until Sept. 23. On top of hte stone is a gem-encrusted bird which was designed in the early 1960’s by Jean Schlumberger. It is gold and platinum with white and yellow diamonds and a ruby eye. The priceless yellow diamond has only been worn twice, once by a Rhode Island socialite and once by actress Audrey Hepburn in a promotion for the film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” The rough stone was discovered in South Africa in 1877 and was 287 carats before cutting.
Vogue UK recently had a piece on jewelry designer Hannah Martin. Martin, who started off wanting to be a sculptor, was attracted by the lure of jewelry. The young designer already has a devoted following that includes Vivienne Westwood, Christopher Bailey and shoe designer Georgina Goodman and she has been asked to consult for Givenchy and Cartier.Her designs, which include diamond safety pins, pearls and rings with gemstone studs. Her latest collection is called Forgotten Treasure Of The Infamous Aguila Dorada and includes this shackle bangle which is made of 18K gold with brilliant cut orange sapphires. The collection is designed for men but the line is also very attractive to women. The bracelet sells for £6,440 and can also be ordered as a pair with a chain to connect them.

that are intricate and delicate yet powerful. She has a celebrity clientele that includes Jennifer Aniston and Steven
Tyler of Aerosmith. This bracelet is made of 14K yellow gold threads woven with black
silk thread with a cross charm
. It sells for $630.
I have had my issues with jewelry designs that combine shells and gemstones but it is hard to resist the charms of John Hardy, especially as showcased in his limited edition Cinta collection. Cinta means love and this limited edition collection is full of pieces to love that reflect John Hardy’s unique island style. This piece, titled Dress Me In Blue Fire, is a white abalone brooch with accents of Rhodium-plated 18K white gold ringed with blue topaz, iolite and cognac diamonds. Simply gorgeous.
I’m not sure how we missed it this year but the
Victoria’s Secret Fantasy Bra is out. This year
Gisele takes over modeling
duties from Tyra. The Fantasy Bra is done in 18K white gold with over 2900 pave set diamonds, 22 ruby gemstones and
a massive 101 karat diamond. As Gisele said, when modeling it,it’s heavy. The bra sells for $12.5
million but if you are feeling a bit less spendy there are two other options: a $75,000 fantasy week in Paris that
includes a stay in a deluxe suite, a $5,000 lingerie wardrobe and a helicopter tour or a diamond and ruby flower

This week Chanel opens its largest boutique, a 10-floor building in the Ginza district of Tokyo, Japan. The
store will feature a concert hall, a restaurant helmed by Alain Ducasse and items sold nowhere else. The glass facade
of the building doubles as a television screen to broadcast to passers-by. The restaurant called Beige, will serve
contemporary French food and Japanese shoppers can have coffee on the roof terrace, Tweed Garden. The launch party and
fashion show extravaganza is scheduled for Saturday.
